Melksham a small town originally reliant on traditional mills along the River Avon. In
more recent years the town has grown up around its tyre and rubber industry and today there is a wide variety of industries
in the area.
In 1815 a group was set up to develop the town as a Spa but with the close proximity to Bath it was not
successful.
