Wilton is a small town close to Salisbury with its history dating back to the 8th century.
A decisive battle was fought there in AD 871 between the Danish and King Alfred.
Famous for manufacturing 'Wilton' carpets the town no longer relies on carpets for its workforce. Only a
small scale carpet operation remains and the factory is largely a shopping centre.
